• I love this line – “The love a woman has for her husband (as well as her Lord) should be based upon who he is, not what she can get out of him.” – YES!! This has gotten so backwards in society pertaining to marriage but I also fear this is how many people view their relationship with God. Thank you for laying it out there.

  • “We can choose to let putting our husbands first embitter us, or empower us.”
It seems so unnatural and anti the way the world is going, yet you are right, putting your partner first can empower you! Thanks for the insight and may you find the strength to carry on being a blessing each day 💕

  • Can I love this a million times? I enjoyed your post very much and I agree with you on so many levels. Giving is so much better than receiving and we should be showing our spouses the love we have for them every day, not just one day a year.

  • Cute poem! I agree our expectations can ruin Valentine’s Day. Our worth and love should be in Christ, only through Him can we love and be loved by others!

  • Very sound words! My husband and I have never celebrated Valentine’s Day. It’s just a mutual acceptance to not celebrate. That being said, the Valentine’s mindset can definitely sneak in at any moment of the year. Sometimes, we treat our husbands by a rewards system. If he… then I… This is such a dangerous path that only leads to discontentment and unhappiness in marriage. My delight should be in serving and making him happy not based on what he has done, but based on what God has done. We are both sinners. We are called to love in spite of. <3 Great insights! Thank you for sharing!
